Why isn't a key lighting up?

Some keys are handled by your operating system or by the keyboard itself before the browser sees them. The Fn key, some laptop hotkeys, and shortcuts like Alt+Tab or Ctrl+Alt+Del usually can't be detected by any website. Print Screen registers only when it is released. If ordinary letter or number keys don't respond, try cleaning the keyboard, reconnecting it, or testing it on another computer.

Frequently asked questions

Is this keyboard tester free?

Yes. Keyboard Tester India is completely free and runs in your browser. There is nothing to download or install.

Why is the Fn key not detected?

The Fn key is handled inside the keyboard itself and is never sent to the computer, so no website can detect it. Fn combinations such as volume or brightness keys may still be detected.

Why does Print Screen only light up when I release it?

On Windows, the browser only receives the Print Screen key when it is released, so the key lights up on release.

Can I test my laptop keyboard?

Yes. The tester works with laptop, desktop, mechanical, membrane and wireless keyboards. Laptops without a numpad can simply skip those keys.

What should I do if a key is not working?

Clean under the key, reconnect or re-pair the keyboard, update the keyboard driver, and test it on another computer. If the key still does not register, the keyboard may need repair or replacement.

Does this site record what I type?

No. Key presses are processed only inside your browser and are never sent to or stored on any server.
